Making that transition from being a student to an RN helped that I had a job in the ER while going to school. I know not everyone is able to do that, but it really helped me out with that experience. I felt that I was really prepared from Graham. They prepared us clinically and in the classroom with the knowledge we needed to make that transition. They made sure we were going to be the best RNs we could be when we graduated.

The Student Senate is comprised of the entire student body. We organize many school activities such as our Professional Issues Luncheon, Senior Banquet and Student Ambassador Program. We also partake in National Student Nurse Association (NSNA) conventions on a yearly basis, supplying voting delegates on our behalf. We are also found in the community supporting our school. One example is our annual march in the Friendship Festival parade. We organize donations of canned foods, run in Relay for Life and buy gifts so a mother can enjoy a bright smile from her child on Christmas Day. Student Senate involves a wide array of activities. It is run by the students, for the students, and yet gives a little back to the community that gives so much to us.

I took part in “Nursing in London.” It was an experience of learning the differences in nursing between London, England and the United States. Personally, I just wanted to experience another culture and look at nursing in a more global aspect, instead of just “Here, this is what we practice.” I just wanted to branch out, kind of get out of my comfort zone and see what else was out there. I learned more than I ever thought I would learn. It was definitely a huge learning experience.
